 A LETTER FROM WALT:

 Dear ESC Members,

Another winter is drawing to a close and unfortunately we didn't have our usual X-Country outing this year. I'm sorry, I guess I

slacked off a little this year. No excuses, I can't blame it on lack of snow because we usually do something anyway.

Hope to get us back on track next year with a full schedule of events.

  Sincerely,

 Your X-country Leader

 Walt Zelenka

DEVIL’S HEAD SKI TRIP

As a club member with teenage children at home I can’t always make the trips out west to Colorado, Utah, etc. The kids don’t      want to go and I don’t want to leave them home alone.  That’s why I look forward to the local ski trips in the Midwest. It gives   me the chance to ski with friends and be home that evening or the next day. (I hope that we schedule some more for next year).

The trip to Devil’s Head was definitely a good time. We skied into the afternoon until the cold and a stalled chairlift did us in. I   actually brought my daughter and a friend along who also really enjoyed it. But most importantly I learned that one can always   spot Lee by his bright orange hat (even in the fog).

Looking forward to next year!

Mike Doman

WESTERN TRIP TO VAIL

The Elmhurst Ski Club enjoyed a wonderful week of skiing in Vail this year. We enjoyed record breaking snowfall, sunny skies, and relatively warm conditions for January in Colorado.

The club participated in a NASTAR race on Tuesday, January 24. Twenty elmers participated in the race. Of the twenty racers, fourteen received medals. I was very proud to pass out two gold medals, five silver medals, and seven bronze medals. In addition, the remaining six racers received participation medals. A very good turnout indeed!!

I am proud of our ski club and want to thank everyone for participating in the race. I hope that we will have another good turnout next year.

Your Ski Meister,

Betty
